- Is Sassafraz expensive?
For couples looking for an up market, downtown location Sassafraz is very affordable. An average price per person including pre-dinner canapes & cocktails, dinner, wine, and post dinner cocktails is $155 per person. - What services/items does Sassafraz provide?
Sassafraz provides: staffing, tables, chairs, linens, china, silver, crystal, single stem flowers, votive candle, sound system (private event space only), 60” and 42” flat panel screens. You may of course, augment florals etc.
- Are tastings provided?
Yes, a complimentary tasting for up to four is offered once a contract of confirmation is in place for up to four guests.
- How often do our menus change?
Choices on the group menus change when the same course on our a la carte menu changes – typically when seasons change.
- Can we prepare specific meals for those with specific dietary needs?
Yes. If we have the requirement in advance that is great but guests can also inform their server on site. Advance orders for Halal or kosher are required.
- Are children meals offered?
- Do we work off package or on consumption bars?
We offer both package and consumption bars.
- Is corkage allowed?
Corkage is not allowed for group events.
- Does Sassafraz allow wedding cakes?
Yes, you may bring in a wedding cake from an outside vendor. A slicing fee of $3.50 per person is only charged if you wish the cake individually sliced, topped with house ice cream & berries and served.
- Does Sassafraz allow outside food?
Outside food is not allowed into the restaurant apart from wedding cakes, cupcakes and traditional sweets set out following dinner.
- When is last call?
Last call is 1:45am with guests having 45 minutes thereafter to finish their drinks.
- Can a wedding ceremony me held on site?
Yes, please refer to the ceremony tab on this site for further information. A set and strike fee of $150.00 is applied.
- Does Sassafraz have wheelchair access?
Yes, a lift is located off Bellair Street services both the main dining room and second floor.
- What is the initial deposit?
A 30% deposit based on the minimum food and beverage spend is required upon issuing of contract. One business day prior to the wedding we will place a credit card authorization hold on the cc provided for the estimated food and beverage plus tax and 18% gratuity and less deposit (if applicable).
- What payment forms are accepted?
AMEX, VISA, MasterCard, cash are accepted forms of payment. Personal cheques are accepted for the initial deposit but not the balance.
- What is our cancellation policy?
Deposits are 100% refundable in advance of 90 days cancellation notice. If the wedding is cancelled with less than 60 days notice the deposit will be forfeited. If the wedding is cancelled with less than 30 days notice from the event date the minimum food and beverage spend will be charged.
- When is final guarantee of numbers required?
Guarantee of numbers is required 48 business hours prior to the wedding and you will be charged the minimal guarantee or the actual number in attendance, whatever is greater. If your guest count increases within 24 hours, please call as soon as possible to ensure both service and kitchen teams are properly prepared.
- Do we offer dedicated parking?
While we do not have dedicated parking there are numerous parking garages within one to two blocks of Sassafraz. In addition the subway is directly across the street.
- Is valet parking offered?
Valet parking is not available on a regular basis but we can arrange for individual groups.
- Does Sassafraz charge for coat check?
No, coat check service (ticket service) is complimentary.
- When can packages be delivered?
Typically, we like to have all deliveries made the day prior to the wedding.
- Are dee jays/bands allowed to plug into the Sassafraz sound system?
Dee jays and/or bands must supply their own equipment.
- Can accommodation be made for rehearsals?
Rehearsals can take place the day/evening before but will depend on whether an event has been booked. Typically we will know seven to ten days prior if we can offer space for the rehearsal.
